Earth and Space Science
  • Earth's Place in the Universe

Investigate Earth's place in the universe and the patterns observed in the solar system.

  • Earth's Systems

Investigate the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere and how they interact.

  • Weather and Climate

Investigate patterns of weather and the factors that produce climate.

  • Human Impact

Investigate how human activity influences Earth's systems and natural resources.

Life Science
  • Diversity and Interdependence

Investigate diverse organisms and their interdependence in ecosystems.

  • Cells, Heredity, and Evolution

Investigate cellular processes, heredity, and the mechanisms of evolution.

  • Human Body

Investigate the structure and function of the human body and its systems.

Physical Science
  • Properties of Matter

Investigate the properties of matter and changes that occur during physical and chemical reactions.

  • Forces and Motion

Investigate forces, motion, and the relationships among them.

  • Investigate the forms, transfer, and conservation of energy in physical systems.

  • Investigate properties of waves and their applications in transferring energy and information.

National Monitoring

NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress)

Federally administered sample-based assessment in reading, mathematics, science, and writing. NAEP results inform state-by-state comparisons rather than individual student or school accountability.

When given:
biennial in winter
Frequency:
every two years
